Knight Sawmill is a custom, specialty sawmill located in the Adirondack Mountains of New York in the small town of Fort Ann. Knight Sawmill (K.S.) is located near the South Bay of Lake Champlain, which is easily accessible from the Adirondack Northway (Interstate 87), just a hop, skip and a jump from Glens Falls, Queensbury or Lake George, and only minutes north of Saratoga Springs. Approximately 4 miles north of the intersection of Rt 4 and Rt 149, and close to the border of Vermont, near Rutland. You can bring your northern hardwood and softwood logs to our sawmill to be sawn into whatever you may desire. We specialize in sawing grade hardwood lumber and building materials out of locally harvested Adirondack Eastern White Pine for construction or architectural accent, as well as timbers for timber frame, crane mats, or dimensional hardwood/softwood lumber and boards to any size required. K.S. will also saw reclaimed/salvage wood from old barns, sinker logs, you name it.

Need a bartop, farm table or mantel? You got it! Knight Sawmill is willing to work with the customer to saw unique pieces of art out of Upstate New York’s greatest renewable resource, let your imagination run our sawmill!

Knight Sawmill’s operation utilizes a Wood-Mizer LT70 super hydraulic, Yanmar
diesel-powered, thin-kerf technology headrig, portable band sawmill with advanced
computerized setworks. It is a state-of- the-art mill built by the premier portable band sawmill manufacturer in the world. This piece of equipment allows the sawyer to saw your logs, lumber and timber accurately and efficiently. A Cook’s Saw Manufacturing portable board edger compliments the K.S. operation nicely, and allows the edger man to cut out the maximum usable board out of a flitch, fast and accurately. When you buy lumber from Knight Sawmilling, you are getting lumber that has been sawed in a stress relieving manner, which consumes more time, but is worth the extra effort, as it yields a better quality product that will dry far better than lumber that has been cut by a cheese-slicing sawmill. All lumber is also trim cut, to virtually eliminate thick and thin lumber. The advanced computerized
setworks measures in 1/32” increments, meaning that when you order, for example, 1” thick lumber, that is just what you get, 1” thick lumber. For the woodworkers, this lumber hardly needs to be planed or sanded to get that desired, smooth, even finish. When you see and feel this high quality, bandsawn lumber, you will never want to buy lumber from anywhere else again!
